Photo Friday : The Zoo

Last Saturday, Mike and I went to the zoo for the first time this summer. The St. Louis Zoo is a wonderful zoo, and the best part is, it's free! I brought along my 70-300 telephoto lens to get some great close-ups of the animals. How cute is the lion cub! And don't you just love the little prairie dog in the corner giving the stink eye. :) I couldn't help but sing Hanuka Matata the whole time I was putting together this collage.

Photo Friday : Architechure

This week's project was Architecture. I wish I could have gotten dowtown for this one because I could no doubt find some interesting architecture there. But, instead I worked with what I have around me, which is mostly industrial area. It kind of worked out as I often find more rustic subjects to be more appealing to photograph than things that are shiny and new. I happened upon what appeared to be an old manufacturer's garage and found it interesting. It's really not so much architecture as much as signage but...I really don't care. :)

Photo Friday on a Monday : Minimal

I am posting a little late because with all the Independence Day festivities, time got away from me. Last week's project was called "Minimal, Stripping Back the Clutter." You can create a minimal image by concentrating on a small aspect of a larger scene. It works great with images of high contrast. For my photo, I placed this yellow chair which I recently refurbished against my bright blue front door. I also really like the contrast of the curves on of chair against the square shapes of the door.
